My dad got admitted into the hospital yesterday. His left hand has been swollen for over a week now and mum was getting really worried about it. We were convinced that he contracted gout as all the signs were clearly there especially the swollen hand. Dad being dad, he was adamant about not going to see the doctor until a few days ago when I sat him and mum down and explained that he was so stubborn about it then he would have to listen to what mum and I said to him. He would also need to stop eating certain food (according to the list I found to avoid gout).
But yesterday dad felt worse so mum decided to bring him to the hospital. A few hours later I got a phone call from her, saying that dad’s been admitted and that doctors said he needed surgery. I requested an emergency leave from the boss and immediately left for home. So mum and I have been running about all afternoon and night. Dad’s fine now, the specialist explained that he DIDN’T have gout. Thank GOD! However, he’s got cellulitis from an open wound he had a few weeks ago. He still needed surgery as the wound has been infected badly and therefore surgery is needed to suck out the abscess from inside. Ew. So yeah.
We’re also trying to transfer him to the specialist centre which is nearer to our home, plus dad will get more privacy compared to where he is now. He’s been put in a public ward with about 15 beds. I’m feeling very uneasy about it and I’m adamant to transfer him. My older brother will be flying in this afternoon so we’ll see what happens.
I’m in the office now, not doing much as I’m quite tired from the last few days.
hope your dad will be fine, and also glad to hear your recent scare turned out ok!
stormy: My dad is doing much better now. =) Thanks!
very happy to hear! *smiles*
That sounds pretty nasty! Hope your dad is ok by now. Btw, love your new theme! How come this is only going to be temporary?
